IMASS - International Music Academy for Symphonic Soloists
The International Music Academy for Symphonic Soloists was founded as an innovative course with the aim of combining solo, symphonic and chamber music performance. The repertoire consists of state-of-the-art adaptations of numerous symphonies and solo concerts for 6-8 players and has been played with great success by the Residence Soloists for 15 years.
The academy is practice-oriented and, in addition to the 5-day workshops, offers concert performances in ensembles as well as solo performances in the Munich Residence and the Royal Palaces. The workshops are led by the residence soloists and by international members of Munich's top orchestras.
The participation and concert fees will be paid by “Neustart Kultur”.
Applications from string players, oboists and flutists with curriculum vitae, video / audio recording and details of the solo concert should be sent to:

What’s unique about our approach?
Our avantgarde approach and active, lively music-making has proven its strength especially during the pandemic. It is extremely exciting to watch and hear for the audiences. Whether Beethoven's “Pastorale”, Dvorak's “From the New World” symphony, Mozart's “Prague” symphony or Tchaikovsky's violin concerto, the audience will fully indulge into these harmonies. The press (SZ and AZ) praised the quality of the adaptations as well as world renowned soloists such as the violinist Maxim Vengerov. Thanks to the huge success Vengerov order for his master class the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante and Beethoven's “Eroica” for strings only.
What will you learn that is special?
Our unparalleled expertise is to offer and teach you how to play these adapted works by only 6-10 soloists and make them sound as if they were played by an entire orchestra and offer a completely new orchestral dimension. Join us to learn from the originators of this novel approach.
